Background & previous rounds

Background (previous rounds). MoSPI NADA’s Household Consumption Expenditure (CEXP) collection holds 29 studies spanning thick quinquennial CES and thinner annual CES schedules. Landmark quinquennials include 27th (1972–73), 32nd (1977–78), 38th (1983), 43rd (1987–88), 50th (1993–94), 55th (1999–00), 61st (2004–05), 66th (2009–10), and 68th (2011–12 Type 1/2 on NADA, e.g. catalog/126). Annual-style CES files also exist for many intervening rounds (56th–64th, 72nd services/durables Sch 1.5, etc.). After 2011–12 there was no published national CES until HCES 2022–23 (catalog/224); a 2017–18 exercise was not released over quality concerns. HCES 2022–23 restarts the series with multi-visit canvassing—not a simple continuation of 68th-round schedules.
