Background & previous rounds
Background (previous rounds). Official SAS is episodic (roughly decadal), not annual. First integrated Situation Assessment Survey of Farmers was NSS 59th round (Jan–Dec 2003, Schedule 33)—first time NSSO canvassed an integrated farm-household schedule on education, living standards, income/assets, indebtedness, practices, and technology access. NSS 70th round (Jan–Dec 2013) repeated the survey as Situation Assessment of Agricultural Households (NADA e.g. catalog/134 Visit 2; related LLS visit files also on NADA), with concept updates (agricultural household vs earlier “farmer”). NSS 77th round (Jan–Dec 2019, NADA catalog/157) is the third SAS: integrated “Land and Livestock Holdings of Households and Situation Assessment of Agricultural Households” (Visit 1 & 2). Income, debt, and scheme modules are the usual comparison set—always check schedule changes before stacking 59th → 70th → 77th.
