Background & previous rounds

Background (previous rounds). Official Indian TUS is episodic, not annual. A 1998–99 pilot covered six states only (Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Meghalaya)—not nationally representative. The first all-India Time Use Survey was January–December 2019 (NADA catalog/223, DDI-IND-CSO-TUS-2019-19), establishing the unpaid-care / domestic-work framework. TUS 2024 (NADA catalog/236, Jan–Dec 2024) is the second all-India wave. There is no continuous yearly TUS stack comparable to PLFS or ASI.
